LITURGICAL CALENDAR FOR JUNE 2023

June 01 – June 30 – Sacred Vocations Month

June is Sacred Vocations Month in the Polish National Catholic Church. During the month we particularly focus our prayer on vocations to Holy Orders within the Church. We further consider our loyal and dedicated clergy who have served many years, offering their guidance, counseling, assistance, hard work, and service in the cause of drawing all to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

June 11 – Barnabas, Apostle

Saint Barnabas, though not one of the 12 apostles chosen by the Lord Jesus, is traditionally regarded as one of the 72 Disciples of Christ.  He was the most respected man in the first century Church after the Apostles themselves.

June 24 – Saint John the Baptist

John the Baptist was the son of Zachary, a priest of the Temple in Jerusalem, and Elizabeth, a kinswoman of Mary who visited her. He was probably born at Ain-Karim southwest of Jerusalem after the Angel Gabriel had told Zachary that his wife would bear a child even though she was an old woman. He lived as a hermit in the desert of Judea until about A.D. 27.

June 25 – Annual Mass and Blessing of Graves at Cemetery
Each year, we gather at St. Mary’s Cemetery on 360 McIvor Ave. Winnipeg to celebrate the lives of loved one who have died. This outdoor Mass is a special time for us to come together in our shared grief to mourn our loved ones. It is truly a communal celebration and people linger after the liturgy to share their lives and stories with each other. If there is inclement weather this mass is held in the church.

June 29 – SS Peter and Paul, Apostles

Veneration of the two great Apostles, Peter and Paul, has its roots in the very foundations of the Church. They are the solid rock on which the Church is built. They are at the origin of her faith and will forever remain her protectors and her guides.

YOUR CHURCH NEEDS HELP. With the help of contributions in 2022, the Parish Committee was able to have the lawn mowed by volunteers. For the rest of the growing 2023 season the Cemetery is dependent on volunteers to assist when they were able. We appreciate their dedication to keep the grounds well-manicured out of respect for our parish forefathers as well as our own family members who have gone on before. When a cemetery is well-maintained, visitors to our city have a renewed appreciation for the meaning of the word “community” and the care and respect shown to our cemetery reflects our Christian values. If you wish to support our cemetery, financial donations for this year can be sent to Parish Office. Tax deductible receipts are available upon request. Past financial and volunteer support is very much appreciated and we look forward to your continued support.

FATHER’S DAY MASS INTENTIONS

The Father’s Day is coming (June 18, 2023). Special prayers will be offered during the Mass for the fathers of our parish, and also for the fathers who have been called to their eternal reward.

If you would like to mention your Father’s Name (living or the deceased) in the intention of the Mass on that day, please contact Fr. Bob Kay.

SUPPORT THE FUTURE OF OUR PARISH

A bequest to St. Mary`s Parish may be the most meaningful charitable gift you will ever make. Thank you to everyone for their generous donations to the Parish.

HONORING DAD
Sunday, June 18th, we honor our dads. Please join in prayers for our dads, grandfathers, godfathers, and the other men who have guided and protected us. Let us remember and honor all they have done to secure our futures. Let us also honor their gift of leadership – the leadership that put us on the path to heaven.

On Father’s Day let us show our love and respect to our fathers. Let us tell those who are alive that we appreciate their love and devotion given to us and let us remember those departed in our prayers. In every case let us say thanks to God and to our fathers for the many blessings we have received from and through them.
Happy Father’s Day!

CLERGY PENSION FUND COLLECTION
On Sunday, June 18th the Polish National Catholic Church will take an offering for the Clergy Pension Fund. At the age of 70 a clergyman of the PNCC who meets the requirements for the Clergy Pension fund will receive $600.00 per month.

The Church requests this annual appeal towards the Pension Fund to support the retiring clergy and also the widows of the men who have served the Church. Your donation is greatly needed to keep the Pension Fund solvent. Please pray for and consider your support for those who have labored in God’s field. Pray too that many men may make a commitment to service in the Church following in Jesus footsteps. Please use the Sunday offering envelope supplied by the parish in your offering envelope box. Thank you very much for your support.

JUNE IS SACRED VOCATIONS MONTH
Each year during the month of June, the PNCC observes Sacred Vocations month. During this month, the Church reminds all of her

faithful of the urgent need to pray for the gift of vocations to the Holy Orders. The Church asks all of us to offer special prayers to bless our Church with new vocations. The purpose of this month of Sacred Vocations is to petition God, the Author of every vocation to bless our Church with new priests and deacons who are blessed with strong faith, broad vision and solid academic background.

PLEASE, PRAY FOR AN INCREASE VOCATIONS TO THE

HOLY PRIESTHOOD
